Wedding Wednesday Ceremony Deets

I wish I could describe walking down the aisle but there are literally no words. I can tell you I had only string quartet music playing because I selected specific music for every part of the ceremony and our DJ did an amazing job with it. I can tell you that my son walked me down the aisle and that not tripping over my dress was honestly a concern. That thing was huge! I was a big ivory cupcake! I remember catching my grooms eye and nothing else in the world mattered. The ceremony was traditional and short. The ceremony was officiated by a friend of my husband’s.  We didn’t write our own vows or anything like that. Just the normal love honor cherish till death do us part kinda thing. The ceremony was a little chilly so we handed out the wedding favor of throw blankets early to keep everyone warm and they were a grand hit. And now here are some pics! I hope you enjoy. I’m also including a link to two of the songs used for the ceremony. My groom entrance and then of course my entrance! It was definitely one of the most amazing moments of my life. I got so emotional but I made it through without crying barely.

Traveling Back in Time

I live outside of Nashville. It is a travel destination in itself. But what do we do when we want to go for a quick get away? Well many people in this area go to the Smoky Mountains, Pigeon Forge, Gatlinburg. We actually went for a family reunion of my fiancé’s family. It was so cool to meet these future family members!

Any who we had some solo time before the family picnic and I found an attraction that I just had to see and I even found a Groupon that got us a great discount. If you don’t groupon you are missing out people.

So I smiled my way and batted my eye lashes until I convinced my fiancé to go with me to the Titanic exhibit.

So the outside alone is amazing and honestly gave me goosebumps when we just approached it.

When you get in line (after paying of course) they give you, your boarding pass. You are assigned a real passenger or crew member on the Titanic. You might hear about your person’s story in the exhibit. Really a great way to personally connect with this historic tragedy. My passenger survived and sadly Todd’s did not.

The exhibit walks you through the creation and the hype of the Titanic on to the departure and of course the sinking. There is an audio tour and they have a youth version and an adult version. The youth version includes a scavenger hunt. Honestly I would have totally done the youth version but you know sometimes you have to be a grownup.

The stories that are included in the tour really connect you to this tragedy and the people that lived it. There is a pocket watch that stopped exactly 15 minutes after the ship went down. A stairwell showing you how the third class passengers lived and many died aboard the ship.

They have an exact replica of the staircase from the Titanic and again goosebumps people. We had our picture taken and yes I was suckered into the souvenir because well I’m a sucker for a souvenir.

If you are in the area I highly recommend that you check out this exhibit. There are so many personal and true artifacts from the actual Titanic and from the White Star Line in general. If you can tell from the pic I was beaming from ear to ear. This was one of the best museums I have ever visited. I wish there was more I could share with you and more pics I could show you. But they do not allow photos in the museum.

Let them eat cake

So one of the most fun parts of wedding planning and surprisingly one of the easiest has been choosing our cake.

So there are so many choices to make when it comes to the cake size and flavors being the most important. Classic white cake with different flavors in between the layers. How many layers do you need? Well these are all very serious questions. Here are some pics of cakes that I of course fell in love with!

And then the flavors!!! Oh my gosh the flavors:

Raspberry, lemon chiffon and banana cream were some that caught our attention right away!

And then of course there was our engagement cake. You may recognize this from a previous post.

This cake is the raspberry elegance from Publix supermarkets. Well we fell in love with this flavor. So now we had to choose design. Because this design is cute but not what we wanted for the wedding. So I was off to meet with a bakery specialist. Oh the choices.

Here are some that I liked! Which did I choose? Well you will have to wait until November to find out! But man it was fun!

I can say with all honesty every step of this process. Making choices and planning the day we both want has been so much fun for my fiancé and me! We have shared a vision and we are making it come to life.

Until next time!

What attracts you, in love?

As an adult, as a woman getting ready to marry the greatest love of her life this is actually a tough question only because I’ve changed. As a girl, a much younger girl, I would not have had the best answer. I think that in a romantic relationship what would have attracted me would be simple, the guy that paid me attention. I had a very unhealthy relationship with myself. I just wanted to feel needed. Read – daddy issues. Sometimes a young person cannot distinguish between lust and love. Sometimes we want to believe there is something greater in another person than is really there.

I think initial attraction is physical and it’s part of nature. We all have certain things we are attracted to. Blonde hair, brown eyes, tall, short, etc.

But love what attracts and creates real true love well I can tell you the things about my fiancé that I finally as a healthy adult, fell in love with are: his sense of humor, the way he wants to take care of me and our family, and most importantly I fell in love with him for who I am when I’m with him and that is me. He lets me be me everyday. He never expects more from me then I can give. He encourages and supports me and even calls me out when I’m being ridiculous, I mean can you believe I could be ridiculous? And all of this brings me to the “real” meaning of finding the one, the way I feel when I’m with him and what I’m most attracted to about him, can only be described as coming home.

What makes you happy?

Happy is such a subjective term. I am a very simple woman. I would say there are those in my life including my fiancé and my son who would say that I’m almost child like. I get happy by a sunny day or a snowy day or a rain day when I can wear my rain boots and jump in puddles.

Rainbows after the rain, flowers from the rain. Oh and glitter!

New makeup, a new purse, a comfy throw, snuggling, when my puppy wags her tail

The sound of the ocean, the beach, watching sharks swim,

Ice cream, snowmen, a perfect steak, the color pink, penguins

Girl talk with my mom

My son!

My Fiancé

My besties

Visiting historical places

Happy children, sunsets, fall.

These are just a few of the things that make me happy. Being happy is a choice. It’s not always easy but you can choose it. Go make yourself happy today. That’s my plan!

The Excitement Builds

Now I’m engaged. It’s all I can do to contain my excitement. So many decisions. So much planning. Oh weddings. They are beautiful and romantic and fun! To keep me from talking my amazing fiance’s ear off and to keep from driving my bridesmaids crazy when there is still a year to go. I have taken to the all hailed Wedding magazine!

My fiancé walked in the room as I took this photo and I could see his brain doing the math for this Number of magazines. I didn’t mention I have another stack at work that I read during my lunch hour.

But they really do serve a purpose. You may not need this many. Yes I may have a problem. But you can find suggestions for everything from venue selection, hair styles, gowns, gifts, and tips for honeymoon and even that amazing wedded bliss we are all preparing for. I also love that wedding magazines are also getting more specialized and localized. If you zoom the pic you will see Nashville Lifestyles weddings which is a great source of local vendors and ideas. As well as Southern Wedding which is basically what I’m having since well we live in the South. Weddings are universally amazing but find a magazine that speaks to you and maybe get a couple of issues. I tear out pages that have ideas I love so I don’t keep the whole magazine. Here is an example:

We have done a venue search and this venue is not in the area we are looking but we are looking at a similar outdoor look and that pic is a “idea” I would like to share with our photographer. It helps to have visuals. Not just for the vendors but for me and for family as well. Use any tools you can to help bring your vision to life. Just remember wedding magazines can add up (man add wedding to the title and the price doubles) so maybe don’t get as obsessed as me but do enjoy flipping those pages. You will ohh and ahh and dream of your special day.

Happy Weddinging

Pardon me boys is that Chattanooga?

What fun we get to have when we want to have some fun! My fiancé is an amazing human and being amazing means he knows amazing people. Last weekend we got to go and hang out with some of those amazing people he calls friends and check out their city Chattanooga!

We got into town late after driving straight from Nashville. Ok we stopped for dinner and had a great meal. It felt like a date. It was good stuff. I didn’t even stop to take a picture! lol! So we got in late, spent some time chatting, checking out their new home and just getting the lay of the land. We all agreed brunch the next morning was a must and we headed off to a great nights sleep!

The next morning our hosts graciously let us sleep in! And then we were off to check out downtown Chattanooga and have a lovely brunch! For brunch we went to a place called Bitter Alibi.

This is a bar by night with a basement that has a bar and board games.(yes chalkboard door how cool is that?) And then by day they serve amazing brunch! It was so much fun! First things first we ordered a carafe of mimosas because well brunch and mimosas.

They also have specialty coffees  hot or iced.

Oh and I mention I love selfies?

Now for the grub because that’s what we do!

The special of the day was breakfast tacos made with corn tortillas (aka gluten free) so yes this was what I ordered. Chorizo and black beans, corn, feta I added the pico. It was fantastic. And those potatoes were slamming!

My man is a burrito fan so he got the el burrito with chorizo and had it topped with chorizo gravy. Yes it was as good as it looked. He gave me a bite minus flour tortilla! He’s so good to me.

The chattanoogans love food like we do. He had the burrito and she had this beautiful poached egg with avocado cream dish. I don’t know them well enough yet but I was thiiiis close to asking for a bite lol!

After our hearty and enjoyable breakfast we took to the streets to explore Chattanooga.

I did not know that Chattanooga has become a go to place for rock climbing and outdoor living lifestyles. There were cyclists and runners everywhere. We had a great time exploring and this girl was in shape enough to not be worn out or out of breath during all this walking around which was pretty awesome!

We went back to the host crib and chilled. It was then time to head back to our part of middle Tennessee. But before we left I made my only demand of the trip. Ice cream.

So to be correct this is gelato and not ice cream. I got to try two flavors coffee and cream which you see here and lavender milk and honey. Both were unbelievable. My man had a shake made from the strawberry gelato. And the candies in the pic were fresh dark chocolate salted caramels to take home to the kid. So yummy and definitely satisfied my mini vacation sweet tooth. Sadly we finished our treats and it was time to head home. We said see yA later because we are so excited to go and visit again. And we headed off back down the mountains. I did get some scenic shots to share with you.

Love those mountains and love that man more.

The next morning I caught these guys up the street.

What is your latest mini adventure? Fall is in the air and I’m looking forward to more fall fun.

Love,

Becky
