Makeup Monday Brushes Rule

I ❤️ my makeup brushes. All of them. When one finally wears out and I have to get a replacement it makes me a little sad because I’m losing a brush and then I get excited because I have a new one to love!

Here are my brushes!

I store them in that mug I decorated myself so they all have plenty of room. Yes that was a toothbrush you saw in there I prefer a soft toothbrush to handle my eye brows then the expensive brow brushes you buy in the store which always feel too rough for me.

My brushes need a good cleaning and I’m not as good about it as I should be. But I thought I would share with you what I do when I do clean them properly.

For a daily quick clean especially for my eye shadow brushes (use lots of different colors and shades and need the same brush) I use ELF brush cleaner.

The smell is wonderful. It works great and I think has helped to make my brushes last longer. This is a basic spray on and work out the makeup on a papertowel type effort. Not hard and definitely quick enough I can do in the morning. I just put them back in my cup to dry.

For a major cleaning I use whatever face wash I’m currently using. My thinking behind this is that it’s gentle enough for my face it should definitely take away any oils that may remain on the brushes and I know it’s not going to break me out or cause me any problems. Currently this is what I’m using for face wash and to clean my brushes.

What girl doesn’t have this face wash around? I have an abundance of sample size beauty items right now so I’m trying to use them all up before I go and buy full size stuff again. Does anyone else do this?

If anyone is interested I could always do a video or photo shoot for cleaning my brushes. I can show you how fun and easy it really is! Let me know if you would be interested.

How do you clean your makeup tools?

Until next time stay beautiful!

Makeup Monday Reboot

Happy Monday! I hope you all had a wonderful Father’s Day! We had a great time with family. Lots has been going on in my world lately and sadly I have neglected the blog. I want to thank you all that have hung in there with me. I really am grateful for your support. So let’s talk makeup. That always makes my Monday better!

Lately I have become obsessed with the idea of matte liquid lipstick. And yes it could be because of a certain mogul family and one daughters take on lips that has swept the nation like wildfire but let me put it this way I don’t have their bank account so for me I have to find good looks with a much lower price tag. And I found this…

I hadn’t heard of Jena Taylor before but it looked like a close enough dupe to what I was hoping to achieve look wise I couldn’t resist.

The swatches honestly don’t do the colors justice. I’m looking forward to trying all of them. I did put on the middle color for a day out and I will say I liked the color, the smell was pleasant and the color lasted pretty much all day through eating and everything. Oh and I kissed my husband and it didn’t come off on his face which made him very happy!

Needless to say I can’t wait to try the other colors. I’m really happy with the purchase and now to tell you how much I spent. Are you ready?

$4.99 at my local Marshall’s and the compare at was only $8.00. So I’m going to say a win win at almost a tenth of the cost for the name brand item and has all the qualities I look for in a liquid lipstick.

What are your latest makeup dupe or cheap must have finds?

My Younique Experience

I am a makeup addict. Everyone that knows me knows this. And I would guess anyone that reads this blog has gotten the hint too!

Well in an effort to help me with my wedding makeup look I had a friend send me some products to try from the brand Younique. She is a consultant and I will include her information at the end of this post. But I want to assure you that while I was provided these samples for free to try the review and the opinions are all my own. I have not even shared my thoughts with my friend yet. So here goes!

The products I received as samples were:

Bisque BB Creme

Body Bronzer in sunset

Organza Liquid Foundation

Elegant Splurge eyeshadow

Eye primer

Scarlet touch concealer

Seductive blush

Glorious primer

I used most of these products for my look. I did use a personal moisturizer, eyeliner, and bronzer/finishing powder.

The glorious primer was just what the description would indicate. It was glorious. It had that great light soft finish that I personally love in a primer. It also didn’t have a smell which is important to me.

Next was the concealer. I took a pic before I blended so you could get an idea.

It definitely helped with the redness of my blemishes. I’m still learning how to use Concealer I didn’t have blemishes until adulthood so I never learned how to do it properly. I’m figuring it out. Lol!

Next up was the organza liquid foundation and well I’m in love! The smooth finish and the perfect blend color. Well it’s definitely a new fave.

Yes not a super good pic lol! But yes I love this stuff!

Next up was the eye shadow.

A very light every day shade. I would normally use this as the brow shade and then darker on the eye lid itself. But today I just did the one shade everywhere.

Next up blush!

It was hard to get a good pic on my face so the finish photo will show that but the pinkish shade is on the left on the swatch above.

Lastly the 3D lashes Younique is famous for! This was not a sample. This was my personal kit I had purchased before. Check out these amazing lashes!

And the final look!

No lipstick in this shot. And I feel like my face looks funny lol! But makeup was great.

I did try the bronzer but the smell was a little strong for me so I’m not sure I would use that again. But I’m super sensitive so scents bother me more than most people.

Overall I really enjoyed the Younique experience. I’m going to look at purchasing some of that foundation because it was amazing. If you are interested in your own Younique experience I’m sure there is a consultant near you. If not please feel free to contact my friend. Melissa thank you for thinking of me and sharing this experience.

What’s In My Closet

I always thought closets were boring. And I’ll be honest mine is usually a mess. I have really good intentions but the reality usually kicks me in the butt! I get running late or can’t find something I want and it’s over!

My little shoe corner is the worst.

But this now this is exciting.

What could this little plastic dresser hold? Well my makeup of course!

First drawer is foundation, powders, moisturizers, etc.

Second drawer is blushes and eyeshadows, mascara, eyeliners, etc.

The next two drawers are random leftover stuff and my nail polish and lipsticks.

Yes I have a ton of makeup bags and I love them all and yes that one bag does say Mrs. Affleck because I was the biggest Ben Affleck fan and I still am! He’s just the cutest.

So my closet isn’t interesting but my excessive makeup collection is! What’s hidden in your closet? Have a fabulous weekend all!

3 Healthy Habits

If this had said 3 unhealthy habits I could have just started with a slight bacon obsession. Healthy habits are harder to recognize. So I’m going to share the healthy habits I’m trying to improve.

1. Exercise more regularly. I’m currently taking Krav Maga classes. I shoot for 2 per week. I usually make at least 1 per week. They have added a Saturday morning class and this has been awesome. My fiancé and I do this together so it makes it not only a great workout but some great together time.

No pics from class but this was after a class one night haha!

2. Washing my face and removing my makeup everyday. I have to admit I’m super lazy. At night I’m just ready to chill and then go to bed. So I have purchased this amazing no rinse super simple and great cleanser. I love it. It’s so easy and it works well and my face feels amazing every night and still feels great when I wake up. I highly recommend it.

3. Writing – this is a healthy habit because it provides my soul and my brain with a positive outlet. I can write anything I want and this lets me keep my brain clear. Sometimes you just need to get it out there. Much of my writing is never shared with others but to me it’s a mental health necessity.

What good habits do you have or are working to make habits?

MakeUp Monday Take 1

With all of the things that I love and that I love to talk about, I have decided to try and focus a little bit more! I’m going to start having different days for different types of posts. So this is our first MakeUp Monday. I’m going to highlight my latest Ipsy bag.

IMG_3038

The bag of course as always is adorable. I just love this for November! Not quite the fall look I would normally think about but it is so super cute and I can’t wait to use this for my makeup bag in my purse.

IMG_3044

Here’s a little shot of all the goodies. If you aren’t familiar with Ipsy you get 5 different items each month. Some of them are full size and some of them are trial size. One of the things I really love is when I get beauty tools like this month. I got this:

IMG_3043

This is a slanted crease brush and I can’t wait to use it. I am always in need of a crease brush. I use them not only for the crease of my shadow but sometimes because of the shape of my nose they are the best tool for using a little highlighter on my nose or concealer/bronzer on the sides of my nose or underneath my eyes. Speaking of eyes:

Smashbox Full Exposure mascara is really great. I love that I have received this before and now again. It is one of those items that is just great to have. I have one in my purse makeup bag, my home makeup bag, and yes ladies and gents, I have a work makeup bag. You just never know when you might need the basics. If you haven’t tried it and you can get a sample size of this please do. I have never purchased a full size and I don’t know that I would I’m pretty loyal to my L’Oreal but I will tell you that this is a great backup and if you can some high quality products for your emergency makeup bags, then that is what you should do. Speaking of some basics for your bag:

Who doesn’t need an amazing neutral eye shadow? I think we all do, personally! Of course, I might be a little biased, because it’s the best color on me. I have a great time playing with all the different and new neutrals that I can get my little hands on. So I’m very excited to try this out and I will definitely give you a review. I have not tried this brand before, but I have heard good things. Speaking of good things:

IMG_3042

Leeanni is a good brand. I have not purchased this brand but I have received different products from this brand in previous bags. The moisturizer was fabulous. Now I’m not completely sure what this product is but I am going to research and give it a shot. Speaking if not sure what to do with something:

IMG_3039

I also received this highlighting trio. I’m assuming this is a traditional creamy highlighter trio. I am looking forward to giving it a shot. Of course some of the colors are not quite right for me but that may be why they went with a trio. The black eyeliner that I received from Model co. in a previous bag was such a great product. I’m actually currently using it as my daily eyeliner because it was a full size product. Oh how I love full size products!

So that is my Ipsy bag for the month of November. I will add some updates with my personal reviews laters. But I assure you this as most of my bags is another favorite. They do a great job every month and it is so worth the $10 per month, I don’t know that I could ever cancel this subscription. It’s like Christmas every month when it arrives.

Until Next Time!

Becky

Tales of a makeup fanatic

I love makeup. I have loved makeup my whole life. Play makeup as a little girl and then my mom would practice on me when she sold MaryKay. I think I was 5 or 6. I like to experiment with new looks and of course find that perfect look that puts me at my best. In talking to some friends and my mom about makeup for my wedding no one was surprised when I said I wanted to do my own.

Yes I dream of the makeup table above and yes I have enough makeup to fill it. And one of the ways I have acquired my treasure trove of makeup and tools is subscription boxes!

My latest box is my July Birch Box (changing my address confused my poor Ipsy shipment but I should have in a few days.

Missing from the box is some Stila lipgloss that I had to try and it’s still in my purse or possibly my desk at work. Does anyone else have lipstick and lipgloss literally everywhere?

I am a huge fan of dry shampoo for its many uses: adding body, reducing oil, and general manageability of super fine hair. This small sample size is perfect for on the go and also for my desk at work. Sometimes if I go out to lunch my hair will feel yucky when I get back (oh those hot city days) but a quick spray makes me feel better. Looking forward to trying this one.

This next special sample is for a heat treatment spray. I don’t use a lot of styling tools on my hair (I rarely even blow dry) but I know that if I did I would have fuller and actually more manageable hair so I’m looking forward to trying this.

Who doesn’t need an extra CC cream? Always need a little pick me up or quick refresh and I find cc cream great for that. And in the summer when I want to wear less heavy foundation bb or cc cream is a go to.

This is a charcoal powder. I have no idea how to use it yet. But I’m probably most excited to see how it works. I will be reporting back on this fascinating little gem!

I realize it’s Wednesday and this should be a food post but I’m going to be honest with you dear friends and readers; we can’t actually access our kitchen right now so there has been no cooking going on but soon I promise you soon!

Me in the new Stila shade. Getting used to it. I think it looks pretty good!

What’s your favorite makeup item or tool?

Love,

B
