Try-It Tuesday Cloud Bread

If you are on Pinterest you have seen cloud bread. You have been curious about cloud bread. If you haven’t well let me tell you about cloud bread. Haha! I found this link Cloud Bread and decided that I should try it for something a little different than my normal 3 hour bread baking weekend ritual. It seemed like an easy enough task.

I had all the ingredients ready to go!

The one thing I didn’t do was pull out the hand mixer and well my results will tell you that I shouldn’t have been lazy!

I think I did those egg whites some justice with my elbow grease though. Haha! Stuck them in the oven and well magic happened.

They actually looked the way I thought they kind of should. They aren’t quite as fluffy as I was hoping hence I needed the hand mixer.

But upon escape from the oven and a proper cooling phase I was very happy with the taste and thus I will definitely be trying this recipe again! I wish I could describe it properly it tastes like bread just a super light version. Nothing heavy about it at all. These didn’t last long in my house at all.

Thanks Becca for an amazing recipe!

Are you guys actually trying these things you find on Pinterest? May change these posts to “nailed it” type posts in the future.

Until next time mangia my loves,

Try-It Tuesday Gluten Free Pizza

I have decided that I can not have Gluten. It makes me feel bad and my body just really is not happy when I have gluten. But herein lies a problem because some of my all time favorite foods are gluten bombs just waiting to happen. Let me just provide you with exhibit A: PIZZA. Now a glorious New York style pie (super large piece, thinner crust that can be folded with lots of cheese). Now in my home town of Nashville, TN there is not a lot of NY style pie to be found but pizza in general just does it for me. I get excited and happy and relish in every bite. So not being able to have gluten has created a problem for me. There are multiple large chains that have recognized this gluten phenomena and have responded in kind with gluten free crust options, I’m looking at you Pizza Hut and Papa Murphy’s. And their pizzas are good, I will do reviews for you one day for those specific companies but today I’m talking about the good ol frozen pizza. This is anther type of pizza all on it’s own. You get a frozen pizza and there are steps to ensure proper enjoyment. First you must have a dipping sauce. Sometimes that sauce is buffalo and sometimes that sauce is Ranch, sometimes it’s just plain ol Ketchup but it’s a requirement people and these companies know it.

Anyway, I wanted to find a gluten free option to keep one or two pies in the freezer for me, because there are some nights I have to have a solo dinner and some nights that my boys order a pizza and forget to order a gluten free one for me too. So I found this:

IMG_2884[1]

So if I’m not doing a pizza with all of the meat then this is my go to. Margherita. It’s just fun to say right? So I could  go into all the details about what’s in it and the nutritional information but that’s not why you come to this site. You come to my page to get the real scoop, the flavor scoop. So here’s a link to the company’s website with the specifics on this pie.

When I opened the package I was nervous to see what it might look like. It’s always scary when you try something for the first time isn’t it? Here’s how it looked.

I really loved seeing all the spices. It just makes me happy to see spices. Not sure if that’s normal or not but it’s the truth. So I put that bad boy in the oven. And waited what felt like forever but then the amazing smell of pizza started coming from the oven and then I waited too long because the cheese didn’t quite look melted so I think I may have cooked it too long but here is the result.

Slightly browner and crunchier than I would normally like but the flavor was there. Everything was tasty about this pizza. I could have probably used a little more cheese but I think that if I hadn’t let it get quite so brown I would have had plenty. All in all this was a great frozen pie and I would highly recommend giving this brand a try. The crust had a great flavor that was not cardboardish at all. And trust me not all gluten free pizza is created equal.

Mangia my darlings. Until next time.

Troublemaker Review

Leah Remini

Some of us are just born loud. We are loud from the moment we take that first breath. We are constantly having to be moved to a different seat in class because they think that will help but guess what, we will talk to anyone, even ourselves if that’s how we have to survive. And many of us that are loud are often drawn to others that are loud. It is like a secret club, and volume and persistence is the secret knock to open the door. This is my explanation for being drawn to reading actress Leah Remini’s book Troublemaker – Surviving Hollywood and Scientology. I have been drawn to the actress since the first moment she appeared on Who’s the Boss back in the 80s and when news broke that she was releasing a book, I couldn’t wait to read it. Due to my time management and schedule I didn’t end up getting to “read” this book but listened to it on audio book.

The first thing I will say in my review is that the audio book is read by Leah Remini and well that’s a requirement. Her voice and inflection and her true personality come through in every single word. It is clear that she knows who she is and she’s good with it. Her book is really her story.

Her experiences are clear and she provides an honest reflection of what she witnessed in her life. Her truth as she knows it draws you in and makes you feel like you know her and you experienced it with her. I found it interesting that this was not an attack on Scientology at all. This story was hers and it was honest in that she had a religion she completely believed in and was committed to including in her life and when she didn’t like things that were happening she had to really step back and make some very hard decisions for herself and for her family. Are there things that some of us would have found unbelievable and horrible and couldn’t understand because it’s not how we were raised, sure. But again each religion/denomination has their special practices and beliefs that are foreign to others. She shows how for her this was normal and then when it became something she had to question, she did. She used her voice and she was afraid to be a “troublemaker”. And that is in my opinion what makes her so special.

If you want to experience an inside look at life, Scientology and a little taste of Hollywood, I highly recommend you check out this book. If you have the time and can listen to the audio version I would recommend that even more. Leah’s voice will draw you in and make you feel a part of her story. I have decided that if I ever get to meet her, I would just like to hug her and say “Well Done!”. She would probably hate that, but well I’m a hugger. She impressed me and I wish she was one of my friends. So if you have a chance in your own life to be a Troublemaker, I would have to say go for it. And when that moment comes just know, you can do it too.

For more information please find Leah Remini’s website: here  and to order your own copy of the book please go here.

Snack snack snacking

So sometimes we snack. Sometimes we know we shouldn’t snack. But let’s face it we like snacks. I came across http://www.graze.com after reading a review I was curious for myself. This is a snack subscription service. They have 4 piece or 8 piece snack options for monthly delivery as well as just purchasing outright snacks. I reached out to this company and they sent me an 8 pack snack box to try out! So yes the product was received to be reviewed but the opinions as always are my own!

So first packaging! Awesome! It kept the snacks in place and each one being individual and sealed made it so easy to throw in my lunchbag or my purse each day. And being able to see everything before trying was great.

Next the most important part flavor! All of the flavors lived up to their names. The sweet treats were great without being too sweet and the spicy wasn’t too spicy it was flavorful and not overwhelming. And in case you were wondering the banana caramel dippers were my favorite. Kinda been dreaming about them lol!

So all in all this is a great company with a quality product. I can’t say I would do a regular service not sure. But man I would order a box for a road trip or even some individual snacks. No matter your snacking needs I would highly recommend trying them out. And just because I’m apparently awesome they gave us a code. You can try your first box for free too! Just use this code when you sign up!

My Younique Experience

I am a makeup addict. Everyone that knows me knows this. And I would guess anyone that reads this blog has gotten the hint too!

Well in an effort to help me with my wedding makeup look I had a friend send me some products to try from the brand Younique. She is a consultant and I will include her information at the end of this post. But I want to assure you that while I was provided these samples for free to try the review and the opinions are all my own. I have not even shared my thoughts with my friend yet. So here goes!

The products I received as samples were:

Bisque BB Creme

Body Bronzer in sunset

Organza Liquid Foundation

Elegant Splurge eyeshadow

Eye primer

Scarlet touch concealer

Seductive blush

Glorious primer

I used most of these products for my look. I did use a personal moisturizer, eyeliner, and bronzer/finishing powder.

The glorious primer was just what the description would indicate. It was glorious. It had that great light soft finish that I personally love in a primer. It also didn’t have a smell which is important to me.

Next was the concealer. I took a pic before I blended so you could get an idea.

It definitely helped with the redness of my blemishes. I’m still learning how to use Concealer I didn’t have blemishes until adulthood so I never learned how to do it properly. I’m figuring it out. Lol!

Next up was the organza liquid foundation and well I’m in love! The smooth finish and the perfect blend color. Well it’s definitely a new fave.

Yes not a super good pic lol! But yes I love this stuff!

Next up was the eye shadow.

A very light every day shade. I would normally use this as the brow shade and then darker on the eye lid itself. But today I just did the one shade everywhere.

Next up blush!

It was hard to get a good pic on my face so the finish photo will show that but the pinkish shade is on the left on the swatch above.

Lastly the 3D lashes Younique is famous for! This was not a sample. This was my personal kit I had purchased before. Check out these amazing lashes!

And the final look!

No lipstick in this shot. And I feel like my face looks funny lol! But makeup was great.

I did try the bronzer but the smell was a little strong for me so I’m not sure I would use that again. But I’m super sensitive so scents bother me more than most people.

Overall I really enjoyed the Younique experience. I’m going to look at purchasing some of that foundation because it was amazing. If you are interested in your own Younique experience I’m sure there is a consultant near you. If not please feel free to contact my friend. Melissa thank you for thinking of me and sharing this experience.

Miso Cauliflower Dreams

So I have been dreaming about the miso cauliflower since eating at Virago. You can find my post reviewing the restaurant here

I began searching the Internet for a miso cauliflower recipe. It was a quick search. I found a great recipe here. I’m actually excited to search this blog for even more exciting recipes. The main ingredient is miso paste. I did not realize that this ingredient would be so hard to find. Anyway thank goodness for Amazon.

I made a few minor adjustments based on the other ingredients I had on hand. And well it worked! My man doesn’t necessarily like veggies and when I told him what I was making he said have fun with that lol! However when I brought him the finished product to taste he kinda really loved it. I loved it too and I’m excited to try some other recipes with the miso paste. So I hope you look forward to hearing more from me! It wasn’t quite as good with as Virago’s but I’m going to keep trying. Until next time my dears! Mangia!
